Hazrat Ali (R.A) was assassinated by one of the rebels, known as Ibn-e-Muljim at the Great Mosque of Kufah in present-day Iraq. Ali (RA) was performing Salah in the mosque on the 19th of Ramadan, in 40 A.H and one of the rebels Ibn-e-Muljim struck him on his head using a poisoned sword. The poisons spread all over the body and he died on the 21st of Ramadan at the time of Morning Prayer.
